Indian breads are staple diet for Indians and the part of regular Indian meals. There are varieties of bread made at home.In some families for all the three meals fresh breads are made at home. There are some general tips to make soft, healthy, nutritious, delicious and variety of breads.

  • To make extra soft Indian breads at home use milk instead of water. If you make paneer at home, then paneer whey can also  be used to make the dough.
  • You need a special utensil called as rolling pin to roll the breads.
  • If you are making your roti on gas stove you will require tongs.
  • If you plan to make Indian breads daily or even often, I would like to advise you to keep some dry flour for dusting in a round shape plastic or steel container . It helps.
  • Fresh chopped green leafy vegetables can be added to daily breads, like spinach, fenugreek leaves,coriander leaves,thyme, basil etc. If you want you can use dry leaves too. Thanks to my bhabhi (sister in law) Arpita, who shared this way of including more greens in regular breads (Roti).
