Rice is a staple food in Indian cuisine, along with lentils and wheat (aata). Rice delicacies vary from region to region. Rice can be served as a side dish with lentils and/or curry preparations or it can be served as a complete meal in form of tehri, yogurt rice, tamarind rice, lemon rice, Biryanis, Pulavs, etc. In South India, groundrice is used in Dosa preparations, while in Western India rice is used for steam cooked dishes like Dhokla etc.
